The course deeply investigates global development by formulating an understanding of the modern world; highlighting how different regions function, how they are governed, how we work, where we live, and how we communicate with one another.

With the degree, I have the ability to select two topics specifically — Politics/International Relations and Economics, with an elective in Information/Social Computing. With three subjects, I have class Monday through Friday, however it is quite handy because I am always kept busy! I ultimately chose the joint honours pathway due to its convenience of variety — I am not locked into one category of study, but rather am given an option to enjoy multiple subjects within the programme. Additionally, a major perk of about studying in Ireland is being able to also dive into one’s course of study directly, and to take classes that escalate by each year of continuation.

“Deciding what course to study can be quite difficult, as there is so much to select from — however, social science brings practice and principles that will widen your intellectual thinking and critical mindset.”
