Ireland is an English speaking European country

When I started to research where I wanted to further my education, I settled on Europe and decided against America fairly quickly, simply because everyone goes there and it’s so expensive. When considering my choice to study in Europe, I came to love the whole continent because of its rich educational history. I was inspired by Europe’s innovative past and in awe of its fascinating characters from Maxwell and Faraday to Einstein. I began to narrow my choice down by focusing on an English speaking country – it had to be either the United Kingdom or Ireland. I didn’t have much trouble in deciding between these two countries because my research into the educational choices made it clear that Ireland was the perfect place for me to continue my learning.

“Living in Bangalore with such a huge crowds, I wanted to move to a smaller city in order to have a simple life with less distractions which would also allow me to study hard.”

Ireland has a strong economy and industrial establishment

Ireland has one of the best economies in the world. It has not only survived the recession but has made a strong come back. Ireland has consistently ranked among the top 20 ‘best country for business’ globally. Ireland has one of the best tax systems for business and because of this, global leaders like Microsoft, Google, Facebook, etc. have based their European headquarters in Ireland. Being an engineer, what fascinated me was the engineering industries like Intel, Analog Devices, Xilinx, etc. that have manufacturing units in Ireland. Ireland’s current economic growth shows what a bright future it has.

Why Waterford? Just some of the reasons…

I come from Bangalore, India (known as the IT Capital of India), and a city where engineers make up most of the 10 million who live in the city. Technology runs in the blood! After my decision to study in Ireland, I contacted the local Educational Consultancy (New Strides Consultants) who helped me to identify the best colleges to apply for. Living in Bangalore with such a huge crowds, I wanted to move to a smaller city in order to have a simple life with less distractions which would also allow me to study hard. Initially, I had applied to colleges in Dublin and my last choice was Waterford Institute of Technology. Surprisingly, I got accepted for all the colleges I had applied for, but it was then up to me to decide. When I started to learn more about each of the colleges, I realised that every one of them was unique and had its’ own impressive reputation. Here are just some of the reasons I chose Waterford IT:

  • Waterford IT’s involvement in research and innovations gives them the upper hand.
  • Waterford IT as over 10,000 students and a strong 700+ International Students.
  • Waterford is not just the oldest city in Ireland, but also one of the most beautiful counties as features castles, beaches and much more
  • Waterford is a small city but a place where any nationality can make a living. For example, we have Indian restaurants and markets to eat and shop, we have a variety of shops and cinemas for entertainment and also a great collection of pubs and clubs offering both DJ’s and Live music.
  • Waterford also has a strong industrial reputation with companies like Honeywell, Genzyme, Bausch and Lomb.

Ireland is fun and great for tourism

Ireland just being part of Europe makes it a great tourist destination. One of the best things about living in Ireland is that you can travel from one end to the other in just a few hours, which makes exploring the country so easy. In Waterford we have two beaches (Dunmore East and Tramore) which are just 20 minutes drive away and we have castles and other attractions located less than an hour away. It’s not just Waterford that is great – all Ireland’s cities are unique. Another feature that I love is the countryside: it’s just green, green and more green!  And no matter where you choose to study in Ireland, you’ll only be a flight away from other countries and cultures. Airline companies like Ryanair and Aer Lingus offer cheap flights around Europe which makes it easy for students to plan trips on a budget.

So, what are you waiting for? Choose Ireland!
