“Volunteering in Ireland is the most wonderful thing to do. It is a great opportunity to give back to the society.” Student Ambassador Hanan Alquraish shares her experience!
Volunteering in Ireland is the most wonderful thing to do. It is a great opportunity to give back to the society. In this opportunity I gave back to me in the past, the society and the future. I have volunteered with a lot of organizations in Ireland, but this is what inspired me the most as an engineering student.
I have volunteered with engineers Ireland for STEPS Young Engineers Award, where as an engineering student I motivate young minds to pursue engineering. This happened when I visited Banogue national school in limerick. I stand up in a classroom of 5th grade students and I begin talking about myself as a person, myself as a chemical engineering student, and about engineering in general.
The young students had the opportunity to present to me their projects where they had got the chance to think like engineers. I was impressed with their idea, and they inspired me as much as I inspired them. When I left the school that day, I felt that I did something great. I helped young students to make up their minds and built up a future as in my country there wasn’t such programs to open students’ eyes for the future. It was a wonderful experience.
