Students have busy lives, so adding another commitment can seem a big ask. But if you are the right fit, magic happens. So as we head towards the start of the new term, ahead of the tenth anniversary of this flagship programme, we thought we’d share the wisdom of some of our alumni and highlight just how much you stand to benefit from the programme if your application is successful.

It didn’t take long for Indian student Harsh Vardhan Rai to realise that the approach to academic study in Ireland is very different to that of his home country of India, but he’s enjoying the challenge! Harsh, who is doing an MSc. Computer Science (Data Science) at Technological University Dublin, tells us all about it in his blog.
Nigerian student Avura Jerry Ugbomine really did his homework about where to study for his Master’s degree in Computing and Artificial Intelligence. And he really feels Ireland is exactly where he needs to be.
Introduced last year in response to the huge popularity of TikTok, Instagram Reels is a brilliant tool for making short, fun videos up to 30 seconds long, as it allows you to move quickly from one scene to another to create a series of mini-‘chapters’ in what is effectively a short visual story.
This year, for the first time, it’s a requirement for Student Ambassadors to produce a vlog rather than simply being a casual choice they can make if they choose to. And in fairness, they seem pretty excited about it! Video really is the medium of the moment.
We loved this application for the Student Ambassador programme from Myanmar student Than Sin (Mia). Ireland wasn’t top of her list in the early days of researching studying abroad, but she’s certain now that it’s the best decision she ever made!
‘If I had to choose one word to describe the programme, it would be “INTENSIVE”.
